GECHS Synthesis Conference
The GECHS Synthesis Conference was held at the University of Oslo, June 22-24, 2009. The conference brought together more than 150 researchers, policy makers and stakeholders from more than 30 countries to synthesize 10 years of research on the societal consequences of and responses to global environmental change and implications for human security. The conference hosted 28 sessions, including 22 parallel sessions, 3 plenary discussions and 3 round table discussions, and a total of 94 presentations. One important component of the conference was to reflect on how understandings of human security are being transformed in the face of global environmental change and how these findings links to policies and practitioner activities.
