Plenary discussion “Human Security in the 21st Century”

This plenary discussion aimed to shed light on the evolution of human security thinking in the context of global environmental change. The plenary discussion was chaired by Neil Adger, who is a Professor in the School of Environmental Sciences at the University of East Anglia, Norwich, UK. He has led the research programme on adaptation in the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research since its inception.

The panelists included:

Mike Brklacich, Professor and Chair of the Department of Geography and Environmental Studies, Carleton University, Ottawa, Canada. He is a former Director of GECHS, and Vice-Chair of the GECAFS project;

Karen O´Brien, Professor in the Department of Sociology and Human Geography at the University of Oslo, Norway and chair of the Global Environmental Change and Human Security (GECHS) project of the International Human Dimensions Programme on Global Environmental Change (IHDP); and

Jon Barnett, Australian Research Council Fellow and Reader in the Department of Resource Management and Geography at Melbourne University.
