Welcome remarks by Karen O’Brien and Linda Sygna, GECHS, University of Oslo, Norway

Karen is a Professor in the Department of Sociology and Human Geography at the University of Oslo, Norway and scientific chair of the Global Environmental Change and Human Security (GECHS) project of the International Human Dimensions Programme on Global Environmental Change (IHDP). Her research focuses on climate change vulnerability and adaptation, and on the role that values and worldviews play in responding to environmental change.

Linda is the Executive Officer at the International Project Office of the Global Environmental Change and Human Security (GECHS) project, Department of Sociology and Human Geography, University of Oslo, Oslo, Norway. She is an economist by training and her research has been focused on climate change, social vulnerability and adaptation.
